Network Engineer – Onsite

JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will report to the ELAN - Team Leader, and will be responsible for, inter alia, the following:
Key Responsibility: Support
Core Tasks:
- Supporting LAN and Wireless environments such as HP/Aruba, Cisco, or Ruckus
- Maximizing network performance and efficiency through ongoing daily monitoring and health checks
- Supporting and monitoring of the Aruba product portfolio
- Strong end-end troubleshooting experience and problem diagnosis
- Implementing LAN and WIFI changes
- Engaging with various stakeholders/3rd parties
- Compiling professional documentation including various reports and RCA documents
- Provide after-hours support in the form of standby
Key Responsibility: Maintenance
Core Tasks:
- Firmware Update and Vulnerabilities (Patching)
- Implementing LAN/WIFI changes as required and/or improving the efficiency of current LAN/WIFI networks
- Provide ongoing recommendations based on customer requirements and best practice methodologies
- Compiling professional documentation
- Arranging/implementing scheduled upgrades
- Ensure that regular feedback and updates are provided to clients
- Carry out any other lawful and reasonable instructions.
EDUCATION:
- Matric Qualification
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in related field
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- CCNA, ACSA or vendor equivalent associate level networking certification
- CCNP Wireless or Aruba ACMP or working towards
REQUIRED KEY COMPETENCIES/ATTRIBUTES:
- 3- 5 years of experience with Enterprise Wireless and switching solutions such as HP/Aruba, Cisco or Ruckus
- In depth understanding of the OSI model and multi-tier network architecture with emphasis on Layer 1-2 technologies and best practice methodologies
- Understanding of Campus design networking technologies with emphasis on WIFI
- Knowledge of RF protocols and authentication methods
- Strong end-end troubleshooting experience with the ability to quickly diagnose technical issues
- Installing, configuring, and supporting multi-vendor network equipment
- Maximizing network performance and efficiency of a customer’s environment through ongoing daily monitoring and health checks
- Experience in Data-Center connectivity solutions and problem diagnosis
- Implementing L1-2 LAN/WIFI changes and solutions and/or improving the efficiency of a current LAN/WIFI network
- Arranging/implementing scheduled upgrades including maintenance and firmware patching
- Ability to provide recommendations based on on-going customer changes/requirements
- Basic understanding of WAN technologies such as MPLS and SD-WAN
- Knowledge and understanding of technical operational processes such as CAB and Project Management
- Experience in compiling professional documentation including detailed diagrams, various reports and RCA documents
- Ability to engage daily with customers in a professional manner
- Ensure that regular feedback and updates are provided to clients
- Provide after-hours support in the form of standby
